Organized crime in America takes in over forty billion dollars a year and spends very little on office supplies. -Woody Allen

Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

As an incoming freshman in 2012, I got "The Y Book" of activities to do to earn a pin/medallion from the Alumni Office. I'm still at BYU (yay double-majors) in 2017, and wondered if this is still even a thing. Can I still earn the pins, or did they stop this program a long time ago?

-Someone who really likes pins :)

A:

Dear you,

According to this newsletter from 2015, "BYU’s Alumni Association published 'The Y Book' s a few years ago. It is no longer in print since the Alumni Association is replacing it with an app (coming soon)...In addition to detailing BYU traditions in text and pictures, it has an associated incentive program – the Cougar Challenge. If students complete a set number of traditions, they can earn pins and a medallion."

I called the Alumni Association to find out the answer to this question, but the student who answered the phone did not know what I was talking about. She transferred me to someone's voicemail of someone who should know, but he has not returned my call. I will post a correction to this answer if/when I do get a call back or get a hold of someone that knows. In the meantime maybe you can call as well to see if they will answer you. The phone number to contact the Alumni Association is (800) 437-4663.

Dear everyone,

I got a return phone call and they have discontinued the Y Book. They are still working on trying to develop an app, but they do not have an idea on when the app will be ready.
