Dear 100 Hour Board,
HOLY CRAP IT WAS AMAZING I KNEW IT WAS GONNA BE COOL BUT OH MY GOSH
Keep it real,
I went to Rexburg to see the total eclipse, and it was definitely worth it. We've all seen total eclipses in pictures, but that didn't prepare me for how alien it looked to see it with my own eyes, hanging in the sky. Seeing a sunset on every horizon was crazy. Seeing Venus in mid-day was wild. And it's hard to describe the sinking pit in my stomach as I watched everything get darker at a faster and faster rate, completely out of my control.
I am now hooked. I'm almost certainty finding a way to go to the one in 2024.
Dear Black Sun,
Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the total eclipse this time around. I've been at my parents' house this week, and the eclipse was just over 75% in totality here. That didn't stop it from being super awesome, though! It was really weird that the sun was shining but not very brightly, and the astigmatism on all the shadows (and crescent shapes instead of pinpoints) were really cool.
For some reason, I thought this was happening on Tuesday. Clearly I keep very up to date on current events.
Dear Eclipse Gum,
I saw the total eclipse in Oregon, and it was so cool! Less cool was all the traffic trying to get back to Washington afterwards, but at least our car was well-stocked with water and snacks. And I have to give a shout-out to a random pizza store in The Middle of Nowhere, Oregon, for the funniest tagline about the eclipse: "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...that's the solar eclipse."
