Dear 100 Hour Board,
Frère Rubik (I always hear your 'nym as Friar Rubric in my head) claims that there are logical inconsistencies in SpongeBob SquarePants!
Will you point out a few?
Dear Minion of Dormammu,
So, the whole reason I mentioned that was because Vienna and I were hanging out recently and we watched a few episodes of SpongeBob; I'd never really watched it before. Unfortunately, I just couldn't turn my brain off, and it took issue with some of the rules/physics of the SpongeBob universe.
The main example is that the show takes place underwater, but it's inconsistent as to whether the rules of being underwater apply. If SpongeBob goes crashing through the roof of his house and then falls back down (as in "Gary Takes a Bath"), he falls under the influence of normal, non-underwater gravity. But, at the same time, Sandy the squirrel can't take off her space suit or else she'll die because, again, they're underwater.
Now I know what you're thinking: "Frère, chill out! This is just a kids show! A stupid, silly kids show!" And, believe you me, I tried to not be such a stick in the mud, but on some subconscious level my brain was just not okay with how fast and loose the writers were playing with the physics.
Anyway. I told Vienna that you'd asked this question, and she found a Buzzfeed article that points out some of the series' more egregious errors. Said article contains some swears, though, so I won't link directly to it; just google "Buzzfeed SpongeBob Logical Inconsistencies" and it should be the first thing that pops up. If readers well-versed in SpongeBob feel like chipping in via Correction, they are free to do so.
P.S. Actually, half the time my sister will call me "Friar" instead of "Frère." I can't help you on the rubric part, though.
