Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

It seems like the BYU/LDS world now needs a term for pre-missionary women (a feminine version of "premie").

What are some ideas?

Dear Hamilton,

Well, I guess the word "premie" could technically apply to women, too, right? Maybe we could go for "prima" to feminize it.

Dear Hamilton,

Missions are still not an obligation for women, so there are still a significant portion of females who won't go. A lot of young ladies are feeling pressure from friends and family to take on that obligation despite lack of personal revelation directing them to do so. The attitude toward "premies" has always bothered me, and I don't want it to spread to even more people. If you wouldn't call all women under twenty-one "premies" before, don't call them that now.

Dear Hamilton,

If anything, I'm hoping the age changes will force that word into extinction. That said, saying pre-sis-mish is kind of fun. Try saying it ten times fast.
