Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Was the Eyring Science Center's pendulum ever stolen? I have heard a story that says it was stolen years ago and it was missing for quite some time. The story goes that back in the day, newly-engaged men were ceremoniously thrown into the botany pond by their roommates and that one unlucky guy found the missing pendulum in the bottom of the pond when he was thrown in (ouch!), whereupon it was returned to the science center and now has the placque describing it's 10,000 ohm powers to deter stupid thieves. Is this true?

A: Dear Dewey,

It's true. The pendulum was stolen once and missing for several weeks before being discovered at the bottom of the botany pond and returned to its place in the Eyring Science Center. I can't confirm your description of its discovery - the official story is that the pendulum was found after an anonymous tip suggested that they dredge the botany pond. But I wouldn't be surprised if the anonymous tippers were those newly engaged men you described.
