Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

Is it possible for someone to acquire a copy of an ancestor's patriarchal blessing from the church records?

For example, my grandparents have all died. I would love to be able to read their blessings for genealogical purposes, but we only have a copy of one of them. I know that one of the other grandparents received a patriarchal blessing and the other two may have but none of the living relatives have a copy.

A: Dear Jane,

Not only is it allowed, it's encouraged! Good job on doing your genealogy.

Check out this site. All you have to do is provide the person's name, birthday, and the approximate year in which the blessing was given, and they'll send you up to four copies.

Enjoy your newfound treasures of spirituality!
