Dear 100 Hour Board,
Who is utante? In "That Thing You Do" Guy says, in response to Fay's claims that Jimmy is a genius, that if Jimmy is a genius he's utante? Who's utante?
--The Leetz

A: Dear Leetz & 2010,

While I thank you for giving me the opportunity to brush up on my "That Thing You Do" trivia, I regret to inform you that with incomplete information (you will notice the discrepancy here in the spelling of the word in question) I was unable to find an answer for you. I would suggest you both getting together and agreeing on a common spelling of said word, and resubmitting your question.

Yours truly,
- Kronk

Editor's Note: It has since been determined that the song is referring to U Thant, a Burmese diplomat.

Board Question #26708
"U Thant," referred to in "That Thing You Do," was the third Secretary-General of the United Nations, serving in that office from 1961-1971. Originally from Myanmar (Burma,) U Thant took the office after Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold of Sweden was killed in a plane crash in 1961.

A biography of U Thant can be found at www.un.org/Overview/SG/sg3bio.html, along with biographies of other past Secretaries General.

I don't know what any of that has to do with Fay, Guy, and the Oneders, though.
