Dear Inquiring Mind and The Uninformed Medici,

Regarding Board Question 18712, about the BYU Medallion logo... both the colors and fonts given were wrong.

The official colors are:
BYU Blue:
RGB: 0, 30, 76
CMYK: 100, 72, 0, 56
Pantone: PMS 282
Hexadecimal: 001E4C
BYU Tan:
RGB: 197, 175, 125
CMYK: 18, 31, 56, 0
Pantone: PMS 465
Hexadecimal: C5AF7D

The font around the edge of the logo is officially HTF Requiem. BYU doesn't specify the block font in the middle (that says "BYU"), but Copperplate Gothic is not quite it. Newtext EF Demi is also close, but not quite there.
It might not seem like a big deal, but "close" in the design world isn't close enough. In this case, it took about 5 minutes to find out because BYU posts it all online: http://identity.byu.edu.

And don't ever let me catch you using Comic Sans.

A: Dear Mr. Poste,

Sorry about that. I found the colors by transferring the logo to Paint, but if I had known the website existed, I'm sure it would have been more accurate. I'm going to stick with Copperplate Gothic Bold for the "BYU" in the middle. Try it--it's the same.
