Q:

Dear 100 Hour Board,

I would like to know the following statistics on the BIC pen (you know, the cheap ones that you can buy 20 for a dollar). Who invented it, when did it come into existence, where did it come into existence, and how can I contact the person who did it to personally thank him/her for his/her great accomplishment?

- A BIC maniac.

A: Dear Maniac,

"Who put the bop in the bop-sho-bop-shoo-bop?...Who was that man? I'd like to shake his ha-a-and -- he made my baby fall in love with me-ee!"

The classic BIC pen was invented just outside of Paris in 1950 by Marchel Bich. The name BIC is a shortened version of his name. I regretfully inform you that you will not be able to shake his hand -- he died in 1994.
