QDear 100 Hour Board,

Who invented the game of checkers?   How does a person go about inventing a game that becomes famous world wide?

- My Name

ADear My Name,

The honest truth is that no one knows.   References to checkers (also known as draughts) have been found on the walls of ancient Egyptian tombs as far back as 200 B.C., and have also been found in the writings of such ancient Greek writers as Homer and Plato.   The oldest known manual for playing checkers was written by Antonia Torquemado and was published in 1547 A.D. in Valencia, Spain.   To read more about the history of checkers, feel free to visit this site: http://www.acfcheckers.com/ori....

If you want to invent a game that will gain world-wide acceptance, I'd suggest these three things:
1) Make sure that it's cheap.
2) Make sure that it requires some kind of strategy.
3) Make sure that it's fun.   If it isn't that fun, then millions of people world-wide probably won't be that interested in playing it.

- Hephaestus
